The Dane Ripper Stakes is a Group 2 race held annually at Brisbane’s Winter Racing Carnival.
Held in early June, the 1400m race is restricted to fillies and mares aged three and upwards.

The 2016 Dane Ripper Stakes will take place on June 11th, 2016.
Otherwise known as the Dane Ripper Quality, the sprint offers $200,000 in prizemoney and is a crucial part of the winter program.
Apart from being a high quality race in its own right, the race is a lead-up to the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara which is the only Group 1 of the carnival restricted to fillies and mares.

The Dane Ripper Stakes is of course named after Dane Ripper. Trained by Bart Cummings, the top-class mare raced 29 times for 12 wins and eight minor placings. In doing so she collected more than $3.1 million in prize money. Major wins by Dane Ripper included the 1997 Cox Plate and Stradbroke Handicap and the 1998 Manikato Stakes.
The host venue of the Dane Ripper Stakes, Eagle Farm racecourse, is the premier venue for thoroughbred racing in Queensland.
With a prestigious grandstand and a big, roomy straight, Eagle Farm is a great venue for both racing and spectating.
Apart from hosting the Dane Ripper Stakes, Eagle Farm also hosts other key winter events such as the Stradbroke Handicap and the Queensland Derby.
