2016 Dane Ripper Stakes Field and Barrier Draw

June 8th, 2016

A talented field of fifteen fillies and mares has been confirmed for Saturday’s 2016 Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm Racecourse; highlighted by the inclusion of some of the Brisbane Winter Carnival’s standout performers.

Ghisoni has returned to racing in slick form this time and should prove tough to beat in the 2016 Dane Ripper Stakes, despite drawing the wide and somewhat awkward barrier 14.

Debuting to racing for consecutive wins in a pair of minor Sydney sprints in November, Ghisoni made a successful transition to black type racing when returning this time for success in the Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m).

Running on for a credible sixth despite a lack of luck in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m), the Lonhro filly returned for a brief freshen-up after placing fifth in the talent-rich Group 2 Arrowfield Sprint (1200m) on Day 2 of The Championships.

Having returned to winning form in the Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1350m) on May 28th, Ghisoni has been confirmed to be partnered by Godolphin lead James McDonald in the Dane Ripper Stakes.

Cradle Me ran on for second in the Glenlogan Park Stakes a fortnight ago, and will leave from the rails draw in the Dane Ripper Stakes with Hong Kong-based hoop Zac Purton in the saddle.

The stable star for Warwick Farm-based trainer David Pfieffer, Cradle Me returned to racing this time for fifth in the Group 3 Wenona Girl Quality (1200m) on March 15th before running on for a credible fourth in the Group 3 Birthday Card Stakes (1200m) on March 19th.

Placing fifth in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes (1200m) on Day 2 of The Championships, the Easy Rocking mare simply failed to fire in the Group 3 Darley Crown (1300m) at Hawkesbury, but has returned to slick form in placing third in the Listed Luskin Star Stakes (1300m) in what was her only other start prior to the Glenlogan Park Stakes.

Newcastle-based trainer Kris Lees has an excellent record when saddling horses in Brisbane, and he is set to be offered a good chance of success in the Dane Ripper Stakes with Onemorezeta.

Capping a standpoint debut preparation with success over classy company in the Group 3 Gucci Stakes (1100m) in 2014, Onemorezeta took a few runs and more luck to find competitive form this time, but savaged the line for second in the Coolmore BM78 (1200m) on April 6th,

Running another close second in the Toyota Ladies Day Cup (1400m) at Hawkesbury on April 30th, the Onemorenomore mare placed a close second in the Group 3 Dark Jewel Classic (1400m) last time and while sure to relish four weeks between runs, will need luck from a wide draw on Saturday.

Group 1 winner Amicus has been confirmed in the Dane Ripper Stakes field and will be tough to beat from barrier 5 with Hugh Bowman aboard, while stable mate Telepathic has drawn wider in barrier 12 but will be partnered by Joao Moreira.
